Introduction Blog

Hi all, My name is Michael Murphy and am a junior here at BSU studying communications and a newly declared minor in health promotion. I am looking forward to this class and blog as I see them being a huge help toward attaining our goals and a great way to be organized. I always enjoy being active as I am a former football and baseball player and still love playing any sport recreationally. My health aspect for the semester consists of a few things that will overall improve my physical and mental health. The first part deals with nutrition/ eating clean. I absolutely love junk food and eating in general, but never knew the true effect it had on my body until about a year ago. I used to eat things such as fried chicken, ice cream, chips, candy, drink soda, extremely often. I would always put healthy eating/ habits off for another time. This changed when I finally put my foot down and started to look out for my well being. Eating clean not only makes you look better, it makes you feel much better mentally, and physically. I want to be more consistent with eating clean and educated on benefits of certain foods. I hope to eat many fruits and vegetables with meals while including some type of meat in nearly all meals. Not only do i want to eat clean, I want to eat less for a caloric deficit as I am have a large appetite. This first part will be absolutely massive for the next pat of my aspect which is cutting fat while building lean muscle. Food is the fuel for the body and dictates how our body reacts to exercise. I have always been average size human, but would like to change that. Some broad goals of mine for the end of the semester would to lose 5% body fat of my current 15%, bench press 185lbs for 6 reps, and be happy with my body image.
